Next PALS Grants Deadline - August 20, 2026

If your organization is a 501c3 charitable organization, consider applying for a grant.  We look forward to sharing with the community the proceeds of our Reverse Raffle and Purse Bingo events.  Please read the guidelines for grants on this website and see if your organization qualifies.  While most grants are around $500, exceptions are made for one time projects meeting community needs.

Pals Donations to the Community Reach $243,023
With the completion of our Christmas project and other recent donations, PALS has now given $243,023 back to the community since 2007.  In addition to the generosity of our members who donate purses and gift cards for fundraisers, many thanks go to the community for supporting our 2 fundraisers each year which allows PALS to give it back to the Portsmouth community for creative and much needed projects.  For a complete list of all donations since 2007 click here.

Pals Grants for 2026 (so far)


Portsmouth Little Theater. Costume cataloging and Preservation. 
      $500


Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.  Peppa Pig – My First Concert support

      $1,000


Sierra’s Haven.  Funds for testing, vaccines, microchipping and    

      required medications.  $1,000
 


Recover Appalachia. Support for a program to support recovery and

      reentry through workforce development training.  $500


 

Rarden Daily Bread. Funding to purchase food for preparation to serve

      those in need. $2,500

 

Main Street Portsmouth.  Purchase of picnic tables and trash cans for

      the new Riverfront Development Project. $2,500


Wings of Hope. Installation of a Little Free Library in Bannon Park              

      near Farley Square.  $765



Pals was a sponsor of the EmpowerHer Conference held on March 26th.  Pals brochures were stuffed in 200 goodie bags for attendees.  Vice President Shawn Jordan moderated a session and talked about PALS and our mission. 



 

           
       


 




    
 






 

  





 

 
 
   


Pals Pot of Gold A Big Success!


Pals held an expanded face-to-face version of our Reverse Raffle newly dubbed the Pot of Gold on March 14, 2026.  Anita and J.D. Knittel won the Grand Prize of $5,000.


A special thanks to our event sponsors Sonnek & Goldblatt, DESCO Federal Credit Union, Neal Hatcher, Southern Ohio Medical Center, Southern Ohio Cleanup Company, Star, Inc. and PALS members who donated raffle prizes and baskets.





In addition to the Grand Prize of $5,000, several other prizes were won at our Pot of Gold event. Stacy Dogal won $600 for the Split the Pot. $50 Gift cards - donated by Pals members - were won by the following lucky winners!

Food was provided by the Scioto Ribber with enough for seconds.  A Silent Auction netted hundreds of dollars for the cause. 

2026 Pals Purse Bingo!


 
 Mark your calendars!  Our next Pals Purse Bingo is scheduled for September 27th. Our last event was a sellout and great fun at our new location at The Venue at the Scioto County Fairgrounds.  PALS members donate 15 designer bags as prizes and door prizes.  A Money Purse Raffle will also be held with a bag full of goodies and $500 cash.  Thanks for helping us make money to give back to our community.



  
Pals Children's Outreach Project for 2025

Each year Pals members do a Christmas project to help young people in our community.  Funds do not come from a fundraiser but personal donations by Pals members.  This year, $2,287 worth of toys and clothing was donated.
